If It Just Happened (within 120 hours / 5 days)

  • Get to a safe place. Call 911 if you’re in immediate danger.

  • You are not required to report to police as an adult.

  • Insurance is not required. Crime Victims’ Compensation covers costs related to sexual assault care.

  • You have the right to a forensic medical exam (SANE exam) with or without reporting.

  • Evidence is preserved. Kits are stored for up to 5 years before being destroyed.
