How to Report A Sexual Assault

Reporting Adult Sexual Assault

A survivor is not obligated to report their assault, and there is no legal barrier to reporting an attack months later. Reporting sexual assault will not change the past, but for some, a report can help survivors seek justice and begin the healing process. To report criminal sexual assault, call 911, visit the emergency room, or call our 24-hour crisis hotline at 903-454-9999. More information on what to expect when visiting the emergency room can be found here.

If you choose to report your assault to the police, it is your right to have an advocate present during an interview with law enforcement. To request this service, call us at 903-454-9999.

For those who are not interested in reporting, or unsure if they are ready to report, additional methods of healing and support are offered by the Crisis Center of Northeast Texas. We welcome all adult survivors regardless of reporting status.

Reporting Child Sexual Assault

Texas law requires that any person suspecting child abuse or neglect must immediately make a report. If there is an emergency call 911. Call the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) Abuse Hotline at 1-800-252-5400 or make a report online at txabusehotline.org.
